Knowing how to use your iPhone used to be something I thought I could learn nothing more about, but a viral TikTok trend just proved me wrong. Right now it seems that every iOS user (myself included) is blown away by a hack/trick that you have to try for yourself to believe.
With a three-finger pinch, you can copy and paste an image from your iPhone to your iPad (and vice versa). But when you see the gesture in action, it’s more like picking up the image from one device and dropping it onto another. It’s safe to say I was speechless when I tried out the feature with my iPhone 11 and iPad mini 6.
After confirming it worked, I recorded it and posted it to our TikTok account. like you follow santosfutebolarte on TikTok (opens in new tab), you may have already seen it. Otherwise, you can check it out below:
Witchcraft, I tell you.
It’s not really magic, of course. This nifty trick is part of Apple’s Universal Clipboard feature that allows Apple devices on the same account to collaborate more directly. Not to be confused with our guide to using Universal Control on Macs and iPads, Universal Clipboard lets you copy something on one device and paste it on another.
We wrote an explanation earlier this year on how to use Universal Clipboard on Mac, iPhone, and iPad, although the Universal Clipboard was around long before that. It is definitely one of the more underrated benefits of owning multiple Apple devices.
As long as your iPad and iPhone are set up to allow Handoff, you too can join the TikTok trend. Or maybe it’s a tool that will actually make your life easier. Me? Can’t say I’ll be needing it much as all my photos are synced between devices thanks to a generous iCloud storage plan. But it will be a great party trick.
Using the feature is really as easy as our TikTok makes it seem. Open a photo on your iPhone, pinch your screen with three fingers, and squeeze out on your iPad with three fingers. Or start with an image on your iPad and paste it on your iPhone.

Also, make sure to update your iPhone to iOS 15.4.1 as soon as possible.
